A WATER cannon salute, to greet the new Glasgow to Guernsey air route, was successful on Saturday after fog disrupted the first attempt.
Airport firefighters had originally planned to mark the start of the new weekly service with the salute last Saturday, but fog had prevented the plane from landing.
Passengers were diverted to Jersey before arriving here by boat.
The fire crew tried again on Saturday and this time the weather proved favourable.
The Channel Islands Travel Group operates the new direct service and said it would be a boost for tourism.
