REBRANDING Aurigny is not a priority for Treasury and Resources after it revealed it would cost taxpayers £500,000.

The department announced yesterday it did not believe renaming the airline was a matter that should be pursued.

It responded following a move to rebrand Aurigny as Guernsey Air, or something similar, by Deputy Darren Duquemin earlier this month.

The Treasury board met representatives of the company to discuss the matter and agreed that the focus for Aurigny's board, management and staff should remain on the major strategic challenges and opportunities currently being embraced by the airline.

'We have a very committed, but small, team at Aurigny which is currently devoting its energy to planning a major expansion of its services on the Gatwick route and the acquisition of an additional aircraft to support that operation,' deputy minister Jan Kuttelwascher said.
