Gems paramedic cover 'not in competition' with St John's
A NEW ambulance service has been formed to provide paramedic cover at motorsport events, it has emerged.

Guernsey Event Medical Services, to be known as Gems, was set-up at the beginning of this year by a former St John Ambulance and Rescue paramedic.
Although its main focus will be on motorsport, those behind the company have said there is potential for it to extend.
The St John Ambulance and Rescue Service currently provides paramedic cover at local events where possible but it has been claimed that staff have sometimes been called away from an event if there is an emergency where they need to attend.
Gems director John Atkins, pictured, said the company wanted to work with St John.
'We set up at the start of this year and have been in discussions with St John about providing medical cover in Guernsey for hill-climbs, sprints and sand-racing,' he said.
