Permission was given for the GreenAcres project in July after Environment Department board members unanimously gave it approval at a public planning meeting. The professional planners had recommended rejection.

Enabling work has recently taken place and it is hoped that the facility will open in the first quarter of next year.

'We have waited nearly three years to get to this stage and it is something that we can now get

excited about,' said GreenAcres Ltd director and care manager Moira Boyd.
