The ‘aggravated burglary’ at the service station in Braye Road took place in the early hours of Tuesday and left one staff member in hospital.

The break-in at Doyle Motors occurred overnight on Sunday 15 April. A police spokesman said that those enquiries were still ongoing.

‘There is nothing to suggest this burglary and the aggravated burglary at Vale Service Station are linked, but we would not rule it out at this stage either,’ he said.

Both burglaries took place in garage forecourt shops in the early hours.

One individual is being sought for the Vale one, where a safe was targeted, however two individuals were involved in the break-in at Doyle Motors, where cigarettes and scratch-cards were stolen.

Police are still hunting for the perpetrators of both crimes and have given more details of the suspect wanted for the violent attack in Vale.

He described as a white male, who was wearing dark clothing and had a dark coloured rucksack. His face was largely covered by a pulled down beanie or similar.

The burglary took place between 3.30 and 3.45am with the wanted man seen leaving the forecourt on foot in the direction of Route des Coutures.

‘Guernsey Police is continuing to appeal to anyone with any information regarding this offence, particularly if you were in the area at the time or have dash cam or CCTV footage,’ police said.

‘This was a particularly violent offence and Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £750 for information leading to the arrest, charge and conviction of the offender. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 01481 222222 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.’

Vale Service Station reopened yesterday, but no details have been released about the injuries sustained by the member of staff sustained or whether he remains in hospital.
