Deputy urges committee to focus on air and sea links
FOUNDATIONS for a digital framework have already been laid and Economic Development should move on and address important issues such as air and sea links, a former Commerce and Employment member has said.
David de Lisle was speaking after a new digital sector framework, entitled Smart Guernsey, was unveiled by the States.
It aims to pull together a number of action plans to strengthen the digital sector, infrastructure, regulatory environment and skills to develop the island's digital economy.
However, Deputy de Lisle said work had already been undertaken in the sector and while it needed to continue, an entirely new framework was not needed.
Other areas such as sea and air links needed to be looked at urgently instead, he said.
'The flurry of States reporting on digital skills is a rehash of the previous terms' economic development initiatives,' Deputy de Lisle said.
