Pubs and bars will now be free to open and serve alcohol from 11am on Christmas Day and from noon on Good Friday, and throughout the whole evening after the States voted through Home Affairs’ proposals to abolish current restrictions.

This comes after the States voted through Home Affairs’ proposals to abolish current restrictions.

Previously, drinking on those days was restricted to between 11am and 2.30pm and 7pm and 10pm, but now, Christmas Day drinking will be from 11am-12.45am and Good Friday from noon to 1.45am. In the debate, it was argued choice and access to public facilities should come before religious tradition.
