The accolade is the airline’s second major honour in a month, having claimed third place in the 2017 Telegraph Travel Awards.

The first-place finish is based on a survey, carried out in September and October, when Which? asked passengers about their recent experiences of flying with an airline from the UK.

The consumer magazine collected a total of 11,625 views.

Aurigny’s overall customer score was 80%. This was based on a combination of overall satisfaction and the likelihood of recommending the airline to a friend.

Aurigny also scored four-star ratings for customer service, boarding and cabin environment.

The airline received a punctuality score of 78%.

Flybe was recognised as the most punctual UK-based airline, based on the percentage of flights that arrived into the UK within 15 minutes of due time. It scored 80%, compared with British Airways at 79%.
