All the entry fees from the 2018 Guernsey Press Fantasy F1 competition have been handed to the foundation whose patron, Bailiff Sir Richard Collas, gratefully received a cheque for £5,000.

‘The Little Chapel Foundation is delighted to receive this most welcome cash donation which will be used immediately to offset the cost of the on-going renovation,’ said foundation chairman John Silvester.

‘We are very grateful to Jamie Doggart for organising this fund raising initiative and the support provided by sports editor Rob Batiste at the Guernsey Press, but especially to the people who participated in the competition.

‘The Little Chapel is very much a community project and we are making steady progress. However, its successful completion relies heavily on maintaining a regular income stream.’

The Guernsey Press sports editor said it was Mr Doggart who deserved the plaudits for devoting so much of his time to giving motor racing fans some fun with the competition he devised and runs solely.

‘We are merely enablers in this but the competition, which has been running for many years now, remains a roaring success.

‘It would be great to think that one day soon perhaps Sebastian Priaulx is one of the driver choices.’
