Since Covid-19 hit Condor has operated essential freight services, but passenger services had to be cancelled in March as a result of government and public health restrictions.

The company hopes to resume high-speed craft sailings to Jersey later in June.

Sailings will be subject to UK, French and Jersey governments’ restrictions on borders, quarantine and essential travel being lifted.

Initially, three return services are in the schedule operating between St Malo and Jersey on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with another two between the UK and Jersey on Saturdays and Mondays.

Sailings to Guernsey will resume later in the year following a review in line with the island’s exit from lockdown.

Condor chief executive Paul Luxon said: ‘We are hoping to start from the earliest date possible. I am sure there will be further developments in our services in due course.’

Also in view of the current travel restrictions, there are delays to The Little Ferry’s operations between Alderney and Guernsey. All bookings up to and including 31 May have been cancelled and full refunds will be issued.

Freight sailings will continue as normal.

CONSULTATION will begin shortly about job losses among Condor’s high-speed ferry crew.

Financial support has been secured through relevant governments and authorities for many staff.

However, this help is not available for the company’s seafarers and high-speed craft crew.

Crew redundancies are being considered, but the number who may be affected is unknown at this time.

Mr Luxon understood this would be unwelcome news, but the pandemic has had a severe impact.

‘We have made this decision with a heavy heart and are working with those individuals affected to make the most appropriate arrangements for them,’ he said.

Condor’s policy is not to discuss employment matters with external parties or media.
