Driver arrested following fatal crash at Vazon
THE 28-year-old man who was driving the vehicle that crashed at Vazon has been arrested on suspicion of serious driving offences, police have confirmed.
At 11.39pm on Tuesday all three emergency services were called to a fatal road traffic collision just south of the Rue de Goddards junction, near Vistas.
A 19-year-old man sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at hospital later that night.
Officers are aware of some misinformation circulating on social media with regards to the investigation, including that a second person has died. This is not the case.
All five occupants were taken to the Princess Elizabeth Hospital. Two suffered minor injuries and have been released from hospital.
Two other occupants suffered serious but non life-threatening injuries and remain in the PEH but are said to be in a stable condition.
Police have not released the name of the man who died as it continues to be in discussion with the family during this difficult time.
Enquiries are ongoing and officers are looking to speak to anyone who has any information about the incident.
Information to help with the investigation should be given to Inspector Tom Marshall or PC James De La Mare by calling 222222.
Alternatively, information can be reported anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
