Signage checked after near miss at crossing

CHECKS have been carried out on signage and road markings at a zebra crossing in La Vrangue after reports of a near miss.

The crossing, at the junction with Guelles Road, was one of two installed in 2018 after the section of road adjacent to La Vrangue Manor was widened to enable motorists to negotiate the sharp right bend more easily. The other crossing is by Balmoral Estate.

‘We were very recently made aware of a reported near miss involving an individual using the zebra crossing,’ said roads and traffic management manager Phil Ogier.

‘As a result of this, staff have checked to ensure the signage and road markings are as obvious as possible, noting the crossing is unavoidably located on the brow of a hill.’

Mr Ogier said there had been little feedback since the installation of the crossing, but anyone is able to pass on their experiences via email at traffic@gov.gg.

‘In this way, we can try to build a picture of any issues that are ongoing and consider whether there are practical ways to address them,’ said Mr Ogier.
