Her committee wants to put questions to HSC after its president, Deputy Al Brouard, recently admitted that States staff kept him and his members in the dark for nearly a year about an increase of £30m. in the estimated cost of developing the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

Scrutiny wrote to HSC on 18 March requesting dates for a hearing, but has still not received a response.

‘We are disappointed that, as of today, and despite chasing, we have not been provided with any possible dates,’ said Deputy Burford yesterday afternoon.

Phase two of the latest modernisation of the PEH now has a maximum cost estimate of £150m., although HSC has tasked officials with trying to identify ways of reducing the figure.

HSC vice-president Tina Bury recently tendered her resignation, citing lack of openness and transparency as a major reason.
