A draft local planning brief has been prepared for St Peter Port and St Sampson’s harbour areas and published, following workshops and drop-ins.

The consultation closed last Monday and a Development & Planning Authority spokesman said it had received 29 representations.

‘It is worth noting this is the second public consultation on that matter, and many of the points raised in the first round have been included in the latest draft brief,’ he said.

‘The DPA is pleased with the volume of responses which reflects the high-level nature of the draft LPB. The project remains on track and the DPA’s responses to the initial representations will be published on 4 November which will signal the commencement of the further representations stage.’

The document looks at how to ensure that Guernsey’s harbours are fit for purpose for the next 100 years.

It does not contain specific proposals for changes, but rather gives applicants and planners guidance on what might be acceptable.

Once the DPA has published its responses to those representations, there will be a four-week window for further representations to be submitted from 4 November until 2 December. Information about how to comment will be made available closer to the time.

A public hearing has been scheduled for early December and the DPA expects to take a report to the States in April 2025. If approved, it will become a formal amendment to the Island Development Plan.
