Gez Overstall, ecosystem manager at the Barclays Eagle Lab, replies:

The extent to which businesses grow will, in practical terms, be down to agility, resources and the quality of delivery. However, you may well be able to grow your business using the 10x growth mindset, which focuses on developing a disruptive idea to solve a problem.

Look at problems that have been too difficult, uninspiring or time-consuming and treat them as signposts for the way forward.

Disruptive business leaders deliver 10x growth by challenging assumptions, considering broader opportunities and asking, what is possible? In most cases what is deliverable is constrained by knowledge, experience and contacts so prioritising learning and connectivity is vital for a business seeking growth.

Participants of the Flight Accelerator programme, run by the Barclays Eagle Lab and the Digital Greenhouse, have recently learnt about this way of working from a presentation by Martyn Dorey of Martyn Financial.

Here are the top tips from Martyn’s presentation to grow your business by 10x:

1. Listen – consultation directs development. Value every opportunity to learn more about your clients.

2. Integrate – the more everyone shares the client’s problem, the more ideas and innovation will flow. Everyone is responsible for delivery.

3. Be responsible for the change – you need a team to work with you, not under you. Work the problem with energy, creativity and time and take the lead.

4. There’s no smooth road to success – you’re likely to face obstacles and setbacks, but it’s how you approach them which will assist your growth.
