Laurent Thibeault, an associate in Walkers’ Guernsey insolvency and dispute resolution team, was admitted as an advocate by the Royal Court in December.

Mr Thibeault previously worked in the finance team of a Magic Circle firm’s Paris and London offices before moving offshore.

He is a specialist in trusts disputes and contentious insolvency matters, and joins partners Alison Ozanne and Sarah Brehaut (the Batonnier of the Guernsey Bar) as advocates in the busy insolvency and dispute resolution team.

Ms Ozanne, the head of Walkers’ Guernsey IDR team, said: ‘Admission to the Guernsey Bar is a major accomplishment that demands commitment, dedication, a lot of hard work and skill, and we are all delighted by Laurent’s achievement.

‘This is the culmination of nearly 20 years of working together on and off from Laurent being a summer student to paralegal and now advocate. It has been my pleasure to see Laurent grow into the accomplished litigator he is today.’

Walkers’ Guernsey office has grown significantly over the last two years as part of a strategic growth initiative across the Channel Islands – the number of lawyers in the Guernsey office has grown by 50% in the last 12 months alone.
