The charity, which has built and continues to support orphanages in Sri Lanka and Haiti, was also able to secure funding to build a hospital in the Philippines, helping even more people.

After being crowned regional winner of 2014’s Pride of Britain Awards, Ms Garnham, who founded the charity 20 years ago, raising more than £1m. for children over the years, has been praised by her nominator for raising money for children in Sri Lanka, among many other countries.

‘Linda constantly raises money for children in Sri Lanka,’ the nomination stated.

She has been able to support schools and individuals in the island, as well as funding a number of projects internationally through various fundraising efforts, including the annual Santa Fun Run, and still continues to do all this.
