Disgusted by taxi driver's attitude to drugs
WELL ... where do I start? Absolutely disgusted to read the comments on the front of the paper from Leon Gallienne, president of the Guernsey Taxi Owners' Federation.
Let me just check, Mr Gallienne – are you still happy to take money from these criminals in your taxis?
We can all think of worse crimes than having a drug conviction, so why pick on those people? What about violent crimes, paedophiles, theft? I can tell you from a personal point of view that I would prefer to get in a taxi with someone with a drug conviction than any of the above crimes.
Also comes the question of does no one then deserve a chance after serving their time?
What happened to rehabilitation?
This island incriminates young people rapidly for the tiniest amounts of personal drug use.
This ruins lives and stops them from being able to get jobs, travel, puts insurances up ... do you not think they suffer enough?
As it stated in last week's Guernsey Press, unemployment rose by 19 just last month. Why? Due to closed-minded people and companies like yourselves and our system that needs to change to stop all these things from continuing.
I ask you to really think about what you said, as right at this moment, you've just lost yourself a lot of customers.
