Woke culture is not a passing fad

I SUPPORT previous letter writers’ concerns about woke culture creeping into our lives. Most of the public are not aware of what this is, or if they have heard of it dismiss it as a passing fad. It is not. Check out what is happening in Australia, Canada, North America and the UK. We have to stand up to this and reject this culture or we all lose our freedom of speech, among other things.

It wants to control people’s thinking by taking offence at any word or alternative view that you may have on any topic. Even if they are not taking offence personally, it will be on behalf of some third party somewhere on earth which they feel may take offence. They can twist any word or sentence they see or hear to discredit a person.

You just have to look at how many children’s books have been removed from schools and libraries to see how their minds work. These people want to rewrite history and pull down statues, ban certain books that might hurt their feelings or someone else’s. Scholars, scientists and many other eminent people that had been invited to universities to debate or lecture on various topics i.e. climate, gender, race and any other topical issues, were suddenly either cancelled or if they managed to get to the podium they would be shouted down because they held alternative views to the mobs. The first words they will call anyone trying to discuss a subject is you are either a racist, homophobic, climate denier, fascist or any words they can dream up to stop any discussion. They have been the cause of many people losing their jobs just because they held different views or opinions.

Check what happened with JK Rowling, Lawrence Fox and many others. Many organisations, businesses, councils and governments are going woke because they appear to be terrified of being bullied and scared of being picked on by these wokies and won’t stand up to them.

The minority woke mob at Manchester University now wants to ban the use of the words mum, dad, gran and grandpa as it might offend single-parent children – even one army regiment wants to ban the use of the word ‘lad’ or ‘lads’ for fear of upsetting some person that wants to identify as something else.

Other woke people want to remove the Mr/Mrs choice on documents to be replaced by ‘Mx’ and all legal documents to be gender neutral. As far as I am concerned people can identify as anything they want as long as they don’t tell us how we should think.

Apparently we might even be guilty of unconscious biased thoughts about a subject which these woke people would deem to be non-PC or upsetting to some poor soul on the planet – sounds too stupid for words. I believe that when you are unconscious you would be unaware of anything happening, let alone having any thoughts, good or bad. We are all free to have thoughts on any subject we wish and depending on the type of thought people may have they only become a problem if the person acts on it. Schools in some countries are already starting to indoctrinate pupils into their twisted views of how to think. Parents of school children should take more interest in what their children are being taught in school as it is starting to creep in, covertly mixed in with everyday lessons.

No one should fear saying something which may be overheard by a third party that feels it may be offensive to someone and reports it to the authorities to be registered as some hate crime. This is already happening.

We all have to reject this culture or it will destroy our lives as we know it. It will mainly be the young and future generations that will pay the price. No wonder so many young children have issues. Let them be children, don’t let them become brainwashed zombies. Stay alert. All these minority groups should be aware that they are turning society against them with all their demands and protests. If the public would like to find out what is going on in the real world I suggest Sky News Australia, available on YouTube.

Remember, if you wish to take offence because someone has a different opinion or point of view on any subject or topic and it is not directed at you personally, then you are the one with the problem. If you have read George Orwell’s 1984 you will see which direction we are heading in and it does not bode well.
