Moneyval coming to review the island – not the States

I NOTED comments from your columnist Dr Andy Sloan (No trust in the process, 25 May) about preparations for Moneyval, that he felt ill-informed about how the island is preparing for the inspection.

Published

I would be very happy for Dr Sloan to contact me about Moneyval if he’d like to better understand. There is also a range of information already in the public domain on Moneyval preparations, including in published Government Work Plan reports, update statements given in the States by myself and Deputy Ferbrache, the presentation and debate of a considerable number of policy letters, and the subsequent submission of legislation to help with preparedness, and the development of the Economic and Financial Crime Bureau, just by way of some examples.

It is important to remember that Moneyval is coming to review the island, not the States, so a combined effort by all involved in the finance sector is very much needed and being developed across a range of stakeholders.
