Radio station so non-local I can no longer listen

AS AN exiled true Guern who wants to return but cannot afford it, I wish to say I am so horrified about what has happened to BBC Radio Guernsey.

I used to tune in to ‘keep up to date’ but it is so awful, so non-local and at times so childish, that I can no longer listen.

When Greg Dyke opened the current BBC building he said it was the most modern local radio station in Britain and he was certain the standard of excellent broadcasting would continue. How wrong he was.

Whatever happened to the most popular Sunday phone-in?

Whatever happened to the separation from Jersey broadcasting on Saturdays, to be replaced by a three-hour magazine programme?

Whatever happened to strong reporting and informative news broadcasting?

Guernsey deserves a first-class local radio station.

I am nearly as upset about all this as I am about States members getting a 5.7% rise.
