Affordable housing not allowed for once again

READING the Guernsey Press on the 12 August, we see another site of nine houses are planned by the Rue des Friquet. As the Guernsey Press quotes, these are intended to be built by a well-established local developer, Infinity Construction.

Again, we see that in this application to the planners that none of these are to be for first-time buyers. This again equals the site opposite Valpys, St Martin’s, another site to be built by the same developers, given permission by the planners.

This one in the Rue des Friquet relates to gardens behind L’Aumone House. Another green field site, but again meets the ridiculous DPA rules which meets their criteria that it is within the L’Aumone local centre, one of the areas where local housing can be built.

It is such a pity that the planners take no notice of what’s needed in affordable housing.

The planners are more concerned in worrying about someone’s house in Doyle Road, asking that their railings have to be replaced.

When we see so many children leaving school it’s a sad reflection on our government – they do not have any chance of owning their own property. Shame on our DPA rules and our States. Another green field site gone.
