‘Renoir in Guernsey, 1883’ — the only Renoir exhibition in the world this year — celebrates the 140th anniversary of his stay in Guernsey, which proved to be a pivotal time in his career.

It is the result of years of hard work, networking, persuasion, and research on the part of Art for Guernsey, in collaboration with Guernsey Museums and Giverny Museum in France.

Mr Ummels explains how the exhibition came together, what has been discovered in the process, and what it means for the island.
