Achieving perfection
As we reach the conclusion to our countdown, Kristina Neves is revealed as the winner of the Guernsey Press Sporting Achievement of the Year award, while a top athlete is recognised on the international stage and there is a double for cricket in the team and event categories.
PERFECTION in sport can probably only be defined by statistics rather than opinion and one weekend last month Kristina Neves was perfect.
The incredible 15-year-old swimmer keeps re-writing the record books and in the Rothschild Island Championship at Beau Sejour, she won all 16 titles available to her over the three days of competition.
If that were not enough, she clocked 13 championship records, three all-comers' pool records and two island records in the backstroke.
As the sports department's choice for the Guernsey Press Sporting Achievement of Year awarded for an on-island feat, Neves was a unanimous winner.
