THE Guernsey Powerboat Association kicked off their 2012 Championship in style with 13 boats competing in an adrenaline fuelled two races.

In the Saturday race, an impressive no-holds-barred performance by Dave Corbet and Kerry Le Patourel in their impressive new V24 Batboat, V8 Diablo Racing, secured them a well-deserved victory.

Performance of the day went to the second-place English entry of Daniel Priestley and Sam Brewster in A17 Children's Cancer Trust who managed to defeat a chasing fleet of bigger and more powerful boats with sheer skill and guts in their performance.

Third place was taken by Jack Falla and Jake Pearce in their Bernico, 47 H20, Falla being welcomed back to Guernsey racing after a successful stint as a professional racing driver in Australia.
