FORGET the history and long line of red inscriptions signifying Jersey victories.

Battle and believe are the words Guernsey coach Gill Queripel is drumming into the heads of her squads ahead of netball's big weekend of the year.

Guernsey have rung the changes big time from the side that were duly thrashed by the Caesareans in the sister isle 12 months ago and Queripel is adamant Jersey will be coming across an altogether improved side in the weekend's blue riband game, the Open A match indoors at Beau Sejour on Sunday afternoon.

'We have made huge strides since last year, not only in physical terms and playing wise, but mentally we are much more up for it,' said the returning island coach.

It is eight years since green ribbons were on the trophy, but Queripel is confident that her new-look side can find the form that won back-to-back inter-insulars in 2004 and 05.
