ISLAND GAMES swimmers Courtney Butcher and Miles Munro each set a new championship record in the 100m freestyle event of the Specsavers Series staged by the Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club.

Butcher knocked nearly two seconds off the time that she set this time last year, posting 57.75sec. – a new lifetime best and fastest time of the day from the girls. Munro also broke his own record, with a time of 52.30, again the fastest time of the day from the men.

The youngest age group (nine years) saw Ailish Rabey and John Welbourne take the honours in 1-32.10 and 1-35.90 respectively, while the 10-year-olds saw Elliott Lock improve on his personal best by nearly six seconds to touch in a great time of 1.21.43. The 10-year-old girls' title went to Tatiana Tostevin in a brilliant 1-19.70.

Sophie Wilcox and Tom Stapley continue to improve in leaps and bounds, winning the 11-year-old age group with personal bests of 1-13.25 and 1-13.66 respectively.
