IN SO many ways this was a very hard day at the end of a very tough week for Guernsey, one which ends with them still rock bottom of the table after this loss and being docked five points by the RFU.

But league ladders do not always tell the truth and Jordan Reynolds' men are so much better than 14th and final spot in the National Three London & South-East standings.

It required a quality outfit to keep the home side at bay, but the Wild Geese showed themselves to be arguably the best unit to arrive at Footes Lane this season and despite a second-half onslaught by the men wearing one blue-and-yellow sock and one green-and-white to mark the two charities linked to a day with a tragically sad background, the visitors went home with the points.

Guernsey's three tries came from Jason Batiste, Matt Thomas and captain Blair Campbell, with Sam Whitehead adding one conversion.
