Perkins crowned island junior golf champion
HOLING putts when it really mattered saw Trystan Perkins become island junior champion yesterday afternoon at L'Ancresse.

The La Grande Mare player overcame a nervy start to dethrone last year's winner Robbie Garner in an excellent 36-hole final that went the distance before Perkins finished it in style by holing a 15ft birdie putt on the last to seal a 2 up victory.
However, that was the least important of the three putts he sunk over the closing three holes after he had edged ahead thanks to a superb second shot on the 15th.
Earlier, Garner had got off to a flying start and was 4 up at the turn in the morning round, but after a Perkins fightback on the back nine, the 2014 champion had to win the last to go into lunch 1 up.
