Ant Austen, the former assistant coach who took over from Charlie Pinsard by default upon Pinsard’s departure earlier this season, has advised the club’s committee that he won’t be able to continue in the role of Priaulx League coach in the long term due to family and business commitments.

Austen will remain in the role until a replacement has been found and has committed to continue to play for the club.

‘It’s a great shame that Ant cannot continue as he is a very good coach and people manager, but we must respect his commitments away from football and accept that that restricts the amount of time that he is able to devote as head coach,’ said Bels club president Keith Mansell.

‘It’s good news that he will continue as a player and I know he would be willing to serve as an assistant coach again if the new head coach wishes.

‘If the right person can be found before the season ends then we will make the switch straight away, otherwise we hope to make the appointment early in the summer.’

Anybody interested in understanding more about the role or who would like to express their interest should contact Keith Mansell on 07781 131800.

n The week’s domestic football washout continued yesterday as both last night’s scheduled Ravenscroft U16 League games were postponed.
