There was a brief period early in the second half when the Lewis Hillier-led visitors side thought they might win it, closing the gap to within two points at 29-27, but the home team pulled clear again to triumph 43-27.

Scrum-half Jake O’Connor scored two tries for the visitors who unfortunately lost centre Tom Teasdale to injury.

This first loss in four games for Raiders sees them slip to fourth in the table with a game against fifth-placed Tunbridge Wells next up for them at Footes Lane this Saturday.

Meanwhile, Vikings finished strongly in their Zoo Sports Shield Division Two game at Bracknell but still went down 39-29.
