Heaume puts the champions on top
DOM HEAUME scored the only goal at Mount Hale as St Martin’s earned three crucial points at fellow FNB Priaulx League title contenders Alderney on Saturday afternoon.
The sides were inseparable in a drizzly first half with little in the way of clear-cut chances, although Heaume did rattle the crossbar with a deflected shot.
The decisive moment came after the interval when a free-kick into the Alderney box was not cleared and the unmarked Heaume beat James Taylor from close range.
The victory puts unbeaten Saints on top of the table on goal difference with a game in hand on the rest of the top three.
North are level with the leaders on 13 points after the chocolate-and-blues had to come from behind late on to beat Rangers 3-2 at St Andrew’s.
The sides were locked at 1-1 at half-time before the hosts took the lead in the second half.
Playing down the slope, North drew level when Joe Alvarez headed home at a corner and in the closing minutes they clinched all three points.
An excellent pass from substitute Ryan Lamb created the chance and it was finished with aplomb by striker Sam Murray.
At Port Soif, Dale Webb scored both goals as Rovers picked up their first league win of the season, 2-0 against Manzur.
