Bels have had to forfeit their match as they are unable to raise a side to travel to Mount Hale, with the Nomads calling it a ‘hammer blow’ financially for their club.

‘Unfortunately it’s a perfect storm of unavailabilities,’ said Bels president Andy Robert yesterday, explaining that injuries, illness, suspensions, work commitments and other obligations have all contributed to the situation.

‘I’m extremely gutted and disappointed we cannot fulfil the fixture. I know how important these games are to Alderney and the last thing we want to do is let them down, but we just physically cannot get enough people on the plane to play.’
