Mahon sent off on a bad night for GFC
GUERNSEY FC were hit for six on the road last night.
In-form South Park thumped the Green Lions 6-1 at Whitehall Lane where Melford Simpson helped himself to a hat-trick as the home side made it four wins from four games in March.
James Dickson, Sam King and Brendon Murphy-McVey also got on the scoresheet for the hosts, who were 5-1 up by half-time.
Ross Allen scored GFC’s only goal from the penalty spot on 40min. after he had been brought down in the box.
To make a bad night worse for Tony Vance’s men, Kieran Mahon was shown a straight red card for a poor challenge in the 90th minute of the game.
Earlier in the day, Isthmian South Central’s bottom club Staines Town dramatically put out a statement announcing that they were temporarily suspending all primary operations including competitive fixtures ‘until a thorough investigation into the practices of Downing LLP, who control and fund the operation of [Staines Town’s] landlord The Thames Club, has been concluded by the relevant authorities’.
The statement detailed many extraordinary allegations including breaches of the Modern Slavery Act and of Russian sanctions imposed by the UK Government, all of which have been denied.
