GFC remain bottom and are yet to win at the Lane

THE new year did not bring a change of fortune at Footes Lane for Guernsey FC who are still awaiting their first home win of the season following yesterday’s 1-0 defeat to Thatcham Town in Isthmian South Central.

The only goal of the game came after 10 minutes when left-back Cameron Rohart-Brown scored direct from a corner with the assistance of the wind.

After that early setback, the Green Lions generally gave as good as they got, with their two best efforts coming in the space of five second-half minutes, with Keene Domaille hitting a post before man-of-the-match Brandon Wallace stung the palms of goalkeeper Toby Fisher.

The result leaves GFC rooted to the bottom of the table, one point behind Merstham who are directly above them and three points off Tooting & Mitcham United.

The Green Lions, who lost both Keanu Marsh and Jacob Fallaize to injury, now have a quick turnaround as they travel to Binfield on Wednesday.
