'We've got to beat Sutton Common Rovers' – Vance
Praying for rain is not something one expects from a football manager – you are more likely to associate it with a cricketer, behind in a Test match – but such is Tony Vance’s luck at the moment, it seems his best chance of getting three points from the next fixture is to have it postponed.
‘Probably the best thing I would hope for is for a bit of rain and the game being called off, if I’m honest,’ he said of Wednesday’s trip to Binfield.
‘Defensively, we’re looking really, really suspect now.’

Already without Jamie Dodd before Sunday’s 1-0 home defeat to Thatcham Town, Guernsey had to substitute fellow defenders Keanu Marsh and Jacob Fallaize either side of half-time.
Right-back Marsh had looked lively in the early stages, enjoying space to run into, but suffered a clash of heads with Thatcham’s Muhamadou Ceesay while defending a corner. When the Guernsey defender later vomited and experienced blurred vision, he was withdrawn.
Marsh’s participation in the midweek trip now seems unlikely, though Vance will hope he can be ready for Saturday’s visit of Sutton Common Rovers.
‘We’ve got to win that one,’ he said on Sunday, ‘it’s as simple as that.’
If the Green Lions are to win any points at all from the two matches coming up in the next five days, Vance knows he will need his fit and available players to produce something more impressive than they were able to muster against Thatcham, who left with all three points courtesy of a lone goal scored direct from a corner.
‘It was an awful goal to concede and sums up our situation. It was a poor game with not much quality there from either side.’
