The Westerners’ quarter-final with St Martin’s was goalless at half-time before the visitors took the lead nine minutes into the second half when Melrose finished with a low strike after good work down the right.
He made the game safe shortly before full-time by converting a penalty after Freddie Walker was fouled at the end of a fine run into the box.
In yesterday’s draw, Sylvans were rewarded with a home semi-final against Priaulx League champions-elect Rovers at St Peter’s while Rangers will play North at the KGV in the other last-four tie.
Both games are due to kick off at 2pm tomorrow, weather permitting.
