Seventeen students aged between 14 and 16 swam thousands of metres in Braye Bay to raise money for the Year 10 and 11 school trip next spring.

The children were encouraged to push themselves to achieve their personal best, whether it was 100m or 1,000m, by teachers Angela Etheredge, Steven Wall and supply French teacher Rosa Cembowicz, who took to the water with them.

Four students – Sasha Hope Smith, Nicolas Clarke, Jack Etheredge and Harry Craig – swam the maximum-allowed distance of 40 lengths, or 1km.
