Ian Wright has the last laugh over Gary Lineker in entertaining NLD Twitter chat

The pair were paying very close attention to an entertaining north London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham.

Ian Wright and Gary Lineker were both great strikers in their day, and both played for England, but the similarities end when it comes to the club teams they follow.

With Wright an Arsenal legend and Lineker likewise at Tottenham, the pair took to Twitter with their views on the first north London derby of the Premier League season.

And when Tottenham overturned a 1-0 deficit to lead 2-1 in the first half, Wright couldn’t help but tweet his Match Of The Day pal.

Lineker, who scored 80 goals in just three seasons with Tottenham, was naturally feeling cheery.

But the hectic nature of this particular derby saw the Gunners level the score early in the second half.

A classic case of role reversal for the former strikers.

But the game was far from over, and when Spurs centre-back Juan Foyth gave the ball away Alexandre Lacazette managed to guide the ball into the net for an Arsenal lead.

Meanwhile, Wright’s reaction was being filmed during what looked like preparations for Match Of The Day 2.

Lucas Torreira doubled Arsenal’s advantage when he found space late in the game, and the Gunners’ comeback was complete.

All that was left was for Wright to round off his conversation with Lineker in fitting fashion, with the Match Of The Day presenter taking it well.

Arsenal and Tottenham will meet again six days before Christmas in the EFL Cup quarter-final, where hopefully Wright and Lineker do it all again on Twitter.
