IAN MERRIEN produced a stunning display to crush the local hope and reach today's open singles final at the British Isles Indoor Champion-ships in Perth.
With Guernsey in danger of losing at the first hurdle in the three competitions they were the Channel Islands' representatives, Merrien stunned the Scottish crowd with a 21-13 win over their singles champion, Scott Kennedy.
In today's final he plays England's Craig Docherty, who won by a similar score against Irishman Jeremy Henry. 'I drew very well to start and was 8-1 up,' reported Merrien.
