MATT LE BER stole the show and had the perfect weekend when Bowls Guernsey held its annual finals this year at the Guernsey Bowling Club's Beau Sejour green.

The Vale Rec man (pictured) won all four of his British Isles qualifying matches and also qualified for four Channel Islands finals to be played in Jersey at the weekend – a truly remarkable feat.

On Saturday morning together with his partner, Daniel de la Mare, he won the Travers Pairs in a 21-end tense battle against the Northern brothers, Ian and Paul Merrien.

The shock win of the weekend has to go to Dan and Pat Le Cheminant, who in the Nicole Mixed Pairs produced some amazing bowls to beat the hot favourites, Alison and Ian Merrien 21-17.

The former combination first caught the attention of the spectators by going into a 12-0 lead after seven ends. Thereafter, all eyes were concentrated on this game in what can only be described as a spectacle.
