HEATHER WATSON will be back in the UK next week to compete in the Shrewsbury leg of the AEGON GB Pro-Series.

The hard-surface tournament will be Watson's last before heading to Delhi to compete in the Commonwealth Games.

The $75,000 ITF Pro-Circuit tournament begins tomorrow with qualifying, but for once the Guernsey girl escapes that chore.

She goes straight into the main draw and will take to the court for the first time on Tuesday. Should she progress to the final, the Sarnian will be in competition until the 26th, the day before the Guernsey team fly from London to India.

Watson has every chance of achieving a good run in the tournament, being ranked 14th out of the 22 players who are already in the main draw.

The top two, Germans Kristina Barrois and Sabine Lisicki, are ranked 72 and 94 respectively. Watson's world ranking is 215. The other Briton competing is Naomi Broady, the world number 272.
