IT WAS a day of mixed fortunes for Guernsey's Heather Watson as her Great Britain debut saw the team lose 2-1 to Switzerland in their Fed Cup opener.

The opening tie of the Europe/Africa Group One in Israel saw the Sarnian play both a singles and doubles match, due to teammate Elena Baltacha's injury.

But from being a break up at 3-2, she lost four straight games to come unstuck 1-6, 3-6, leaving Great Britain with the proverbial mountain to climb.
