The plans for the community hub have been released by the Channel Islands Co-operative Society, which will see the long-awaited regeneration of the area and feature 410 residential units, new retail spaces, a plaza, and other space for community, leisure and commercial use.

A majority – 370 units – of the housing will be apartments, but there will be 40 three-bedroom houses as part of the plans, which are due to be submitted to planners on Monday.

While much of the Bridge shopping parade will not be radically altered, two buildings, currently housing charity shops, are due to be demolished to make way for a new access road into the site.

The Co-operative Society also plans to close its Homemaker store at Lowlands Industrial Estate and relocate it to a new concept, non-food store on the Bridge. This will be on the site of the Island Shopper, which sees its lease end later this year.
