Half have had two doses of vaccine
HALF of Guernsey’s adults have now received both doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, as the vaccination programme continues to power forward.
People in their early 20s are getting their first doses this week, putting Guernsey on track to offer one dose of a vaccine to all adults by 1 July.
The vaccination programme kicked off in Guernsey in mid-December. Since then more than 71,000 doses have been given, mostly at the community vaccination centre at Beau Sejour.
The 50% landmark for both doses for over-16s was passed yesterday. Nearly 30% of adults have only received the first dose.
Uptake cannot be calculated until all adults have been given the option to be vaccinated, but it is known that more than 90% of over 50s have taken the vaccine.
While it is not mandatory, vaccinated individuals look set to be able to travel off-island and abroad more easily.
