Four large screens streamed the games to a room of 130 people and comedian Russ Williams was ready to entertain the crowd between matches.

‘The atmosphere is just electric and everyone is involved in the Six Nations and also in the rugby-themed games and raffles that we’re hosting throughout the afternoon,’ said Karen Solway, chairwoman of the Guernsey Wooden Spoon.

‘It’s events like this that help us raise money for other charities and projects that we support.’

Wooden Spoon held its last fundraiser in July 2019, and is now hoping to continue raising money to install an all-age playground at Les Voies School.

‘I’ve been coming to every event for probably the past 15 years,’ said regular attendee Nigel Gale.

‘It’s an amazing atmosphere here today, we’ve missed out on some events in the past few years but everyone is back here again and we’re all so pleased.’

Tristan Boscher was previously on the Wooden Spoon committee, however this was his first Six Nations event with them.

‘The feeling here today is just great and I have no doubt the rest of the evening will be as well,’ he said. ‘Wooden Spoon are hosting some games and everyone is having some food and some drinks and it is really bringing everyone together to watch the rugby.’
