The previous counter in the Market building was lost earlier this year, when the post office in the Coop closed.

It left the new Town post office at the Guernsey Information Centre as the only Ebox site in central St Peter Port.

But now a new Ebox counter has opened on the ground floor of the Guille-Alles library.

Guernsey Post head of commercial Cassy Fish said they were pleased to see the new counter open.

‘The location is not only central but also a well-known and frequented community hub, making it an ideal spot for our customers to pick up their Ebox parcels,’ she said.

The collection counter system allows islanders to set up Eboxes online before being assigned a number to be used as the delivery location when ordering parcels.

Customers receive a text or email when their package is ready for collection.

Guille-Alles head of marketing and customer services Adam Bayfield said he was happy to extend the library’s wider utility to the island.

‘As well as promoting books and reading, libraries are safe and accessible spaces for the whole community. By hosting this Ebox collection point, we hope to give people a convenient way to pick up their parcels and also provide them with another reason to visit and make the most of the huge range of services available here at the library.’

Guernsey Post head of corporate engagement Dawn Gallienne added that the new location will allow for continued growth and popularity of this service.

‘Having it in the centre of Town is really useful, especially because the library is open until 9pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The boxes have been really popular with our customers and we’ve had a lot of parcels coming through them.’

The library joins the Envoy House post office and Tourist Information Centre post office as the third Ebox location.
