La Barbarie Hotel is a four-star hotel above Saints Bay, with 38 bedrooms.

It was bought as a two-star, 14-bedroom hotel with 13 self-catering units by Andrew Wright in 1986.

Alongside his business partner, Andy Coleman, the hotel has been redeveloped and modernised.

But after nearly 40 years, they have decided to sell.

‘After many years of care for this business, we’ve both decided that it’s time to sell it and start our retirement plans,’ said Mr Wright.

‘We hope that the next owners will recognise the strength of the business and keep providing our customers, some of whom return year on year, a great hospitality experience.

‘We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to our outstanding staff for their remarkable hard work and dedication over the years. Without them the hotel would not have achieved its success.’

It is being sold by commercial real estate firm Colliers and local agent Swoffers.

The property details show it is being sold as a going concern, with all fixtures and fittings.

The year-end to March 2024 showed a turnover of £2.57m., with earnings before tax of £790,000.

The building was originally a 17th century priory, which was converted into a hotel in 1950.

It is one of nine four-star hotels in Guernsey.
