Major Andrew Daiper-Clausen hopes to host around 50 people, and while his list is quickly filling up, there are still a few spaces available.

‘I would ask that anyone wishing to join us should put their names forward as soon as possible to avoid being disappointed,’ he said.

‘Our guests enjoy a turkey roast, with all the trimmings and we also put on entertainment and watch the King’s speech.’

The lunch is free, but spaces must be booked.

This time of the year is a busy one for the Salvation Army community, with the band and songsters performing at concerts and visiting a wide range of care homes.

There is also the carol concert, which is taking place at the L’Islet Fortress at 6pm on Sunday 22 December.

The cafe premises on the Bridge is also a busy hub and once again the Salvation Army is offering its winter warm welcome, with free hot drinks and toast if the temperature dips below 7C.
