Sort out the problems with income tax and the money shortage might be resolved

WITH regard to the letter by Angela Galitzine of March 13, I can ask the same question. Yes, what is going on with the income tax?

Like this person my husband and I filled in our forms for 2022. He took them into the offices at Wheadon House, on 23 March, but was told by the person he spoke to that the forms could not be filled in separately. So, the person behind the desk said that there would no problem – I will put them together for you. Luckily we have a receipt.

However, several weeks back I received a letter from the income tax to say I had not returned my forms for 2022. So I got my paperwork and phoned up the office. Got through and eventually the person found my totals on my husband’s form. I was told to ignore this letter.

Then I received another letter from the tax office saying I would be fined £200 plus £10 a day if I did not return the forms.

Once again, on the phone – eventually got through and explained – yet again they would sort it out.

Perhaps if they were to sort out all these problems instead of sending out bills for this year the island might find it does not have such a money shortage.
